Shepton Mallet is an attractive town, well situated between Wells and Frome. The town’s heritage is largely linked to Roman times and retains strong character features throughout. The town plays host to a variety of renowned brands, premium outlet shops and the UK’s oldest prison.

The town itself offers primary and secondary schools as well as a multitude of amenities and shopping facilities including: a large supermarket, a selection of restaurants and pubs, a fitness centre, dentists, doctors and a Grade I listed church.

If there is one venue synonymous with Shepton Mallet it is the Bath and West Showground, a 240-acre site just out of town that draws visitors to the annual agricultural and rural shows and collectors fairs in their masses. The highlight of the year here is the Royal Bath and West Show at the end of May.

Nearby, the cathedral city of Wells offers further amenities. The heritage city of Bath and the regional centre of Bristol are also nearby. Mainline rail services to London Paddington and Exeter can be found at Castle Cary which is 8 miles away.

WHY WE LOVE SHEPTON MALLET: The town is so fortunate to possess an array of high quality independent shops and eateries that are simply must visits. The royal Bath and West show is a regular fixture in our yearly calendars and is a great representation of agricultural and rural life in Somerset.
