Cotford St Luke is a new village approximately 5 miles from Taunton that was established following the closure of Tone Vale Hospital and Cotford Asylum in the 1990s.  The former hospital St Luke's chapel, which is a Grade II listed building built in the 1890s, was converted into a public house and restaurant called The Chapel.  There are 3 play areas for the under 5’s and others for older children, two football pitches and tennis courts.

Cotford St Luke Community Primary School is situated on the edge of the village, built on what were the grounds of the asylum playing fields and opened in September 2003. The school has 10 classes and caters for children from 4 to 11 years, with a pre-school on site for children from the age of 3 years.  The village also has a popular Co-op supermarket, community centre/village hall and is surrounded by open countryside.

WHY WE LOVE COTFORD ST LUKE:  “We love the combination of the New and Old buildings in the village which has been thoughtfully planned out to compliment one another.  The magnificent looking old hospital buildings including the Clockhouse have been painstakingly and sympathetically restored retaining many of the original features and stand proud in the centre of Cotford St Luke.”
